About Us

Where did we start…

The Linking Together Centre (LTC) was established in 2002 by a concerned group of tenants, who formed the South Inverell Residents Association, to combat the rise of violence in the area and to create a safe environment for local families.

With the support of NSW Housing, a part time Community Development worker was employed and a NSW Housing home was provided to the community, to be used as a drop-in Community Centre.

In recognition of the significant community outcomes achieved by the LTC, Inverell Shire Council auspiced the Centre’s operations and ensured appropriate funding was secured to support program delivery.

In 2009 BEST Employment partnered with Inverell Shire Council, to establish a Community Support Service at the Centre. In 2014 the Linking Together Centre moved into it a purpose built premises, where it remains today- running several community programs. Through its services, the LTC aims to empower families and individuals to increase control over their own well-being. This is done through the provision of appropriate and targeted services, education, assistance, advocacy and support provided in a safe environment by our committed staff.

Since the establishment of the LTC the NSW Department of Housing and Local Police Department has reported a significant reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

The Linking Together Centre exists to empower and educate local people within our community, assisting them to make better choices to live a happy life and to build an inclusive, harmonious community.

A range of organisations also utilise the Centre to deliver permanent and/or visiting services and programs. This not only ensures a strong community partnership base but also encourages community members to access services in an environment that they feel safe and comfortable in.
